Assist Planner

Triarchy ships with per-player Assists—personal difficulty tuning that does not force your settings on allies. The Steam store page lists adjustments for damage taken, damage dealt, parry window, and stamina drain, changeable at any time. That design supports families, mixed-skill trios, and sailors returning after months away, but only if parties talk before bosses instead of discovering mismatched feels mid-fight.

This page explains each axis, when to raise or lower it relative to combat fundamentals, and embeds the interactive planner mid-article. Use it alongside the written Assists guide and Co-op Hub before your next playtest or launch-night session.

Why assists matter for builds

Assists are not talents and not gear, yet they change how demanding your dual-wield strings feel. A sailor with wider parry windows can run heavier, slower weapons earlier; a precision player tightening windows may dial up damage taken to mimic Challenge Mode pressure. Supports keeping stamina drain low can stay in fights longer to cover allies even if their talent tree skews utility over burst.

Because Triarchy is not released yet (2026 target), exact slider ranges may shift. Treat this planner as a conversation tool, then mirror agreed values in-game when the build allows.

Damage taken

Lowering damage taken softens incoming hits during learning nights—ideal when your crew is parsing new boss telegraphs from Boss Overview or when a friend joins their first playtest via drop-in co-op. Raising damage taken pushes toward hardcore readability: fewer accidental survives, more punishment for greedy dodges.

Story-focused presets lean softer here; precision presets accept more damage to keep tension high without touching allies.

Damage dealt

Raising damage dealt helps newcomers contribute while they learn parry cadence. Lowering it can simulate under-leveled gear during co-op experiments or prevent a veteran from trivializing adds while friends practice stagger chains.

Coordinate with party roles from the Role Tier List so one soft-damage player is not accidentally carrying every poise break alone.

Parry window

Parry timing is a marketed core skill. Wider windows teach the rhythm; narrower windows reward mastery and mirror Challenge Mode intent. Mixed-skill groups should announce parry assists out loud—visual telegraphs feel different when one player has twice the forgiveness.

If everyone widens parry windows for a first clear, schedule a rematch with tighter settings before posting feedback on Updates so developers hear both accessibility and mastery perspectives.

Stamina drain

Stamina governs dodge spam, combo length, and dual-wield experimentation. Lower drain helps players learn moveset timing without constant empty-bar panic. Higher drain simulates endurance pressure useful when practicing late-game stamina taxes.

Pair stamina choices with weapon weight plans from Weapons and Dual-Wield—heavy pairs plus high drain can feel unfair until talents compensate.

Preset vibes: story, balanced, precision

The embedded planner includes three presets mirroring common party agreements:

  • Story cruise — softer damage taken, generous parry, moderate output. Great for first playtest nights and Playtest Checklist crews with mixed experience.
  • Balanced crew — neutral sliders for standard trio progression without specializing assists yet.
  • Precision hunt — harsher damage taken, tighter parry, higher stamina drain. Useful when rehearsing Challenge Mode routes on the Bosses hub.

Presets are starting points. Save custom blends in your browser and screenshot them for Discord before sailing.

Party scripts that work

  1. Host shares planner screenshot; guests match philosophy, not necessarily identical numbers.
  2. Supports run softer damage taken if they anchor revives; damage roles accept tighter parry for skill growth.
  3. Revisit assists after ship upgrades from Ship Upgrades— faster travel can mean more fights per session and fatigue.
  4. Log changes when posting playtest feedback via Official Links so developers correlate assist usage with wipe rates.

Limits and launch expectations

Assists cannot replace co-op communication or enemy scaling knowledge. They also will not fix network issues—verify PC readiness on the Playtest Checklist separately.

At 2026 launch, revisit this page for Challenge Mode recommendations and any new assist axes Digital Confectioners adds. Until then, plan generously, fight intentionally, and keep assists personal.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from Steam playtests and official announcements.

Do my assist settings affect teammates?

Official copy states assists are **per-player** and do not force difficulty on others. Each sailor chooses their own sliders in-game.

Can I change assists mid-fight?

Marketing says assists can change at any time. Etiquette tip: adjust between pulls, not during boss enrage timers your party is learning.

Does the planner save to Steam Cloud?

No. This wiki tool saves to **local browser storage** only. Reapply values manually inside Triarchy.

Should everyone use the same preset?

Same **philosophy**, not identical numbers. Supports and damage roles often diverge—see preset descriptions above.

Where do assists fit with playtest feedback?

Mention assist usage when filing feedback after events so developers understand accessibility versus mastery requests.
